QCF? • The QCF is: • The new framework for recognising vocational achievement through the award of credit for units and qualifications • Units and qualifications in the QCF are: • transferable • • flexible • • quality assured • • easy to understand • • geared towards progression • mapped to standards (National Occupational and/or professional regulations)
QCF Qualifications • All QCF qualifications have a SIZE and LEVEL • The size indicates how long it will take to gain the qualification • There are three sizes of qualification: • Award: 1 – 12 credits • Certificate 13 – 36 credits • Diploma 37 credits or more • The level tells you how difficult the qualification is: • Entry and Level 1 are Foundation learning • Level 3 is equivalent to an ‘A’ Level • Level 8 is equivalent to a PHd
Using QCF Qualifications • Drainage Engineers • Development of Apprenticeships to meet the needs of SME’s • Assistive Technology • Development of qualification framework for new career path • Pre-apprenticeship and pre-employment training • Qualification Pathways • Health and Social Care: L2 and L3 Awards, Certificate and Diplomas: Activity Provision, Assisting and Moving Individual, Dementia Care, Physical Seated Activity
Using the QCF • Improves satisfaction and motivation of staff • Enables the training to be targeted to the needs of the business and learners • Enables in-house developed training to be recognised within a national framework • Develops relationships with sector skills councils • Develops/builds relationships with funding bodies
