Starting with OAP in 2005 • A vision from God • A challenge to action, to ask God for a huge dream and the vision to achieve it • Inspiration from God to meet a need by discipling young professionals for effective, Kingdom-based vocation and ministry
Starting with OAP in 2005 • A vision from God • A challenge to action, to ask God for a huge dream and the vision to achieve it • Inspiration from God to meet a need by discipling young professionals for effective, Kingdom-based vocation and ministry • We started with 1 apprentice and a focus on work skills and personal integrity • It was good, but not enough
Prayer Evangelism / 5 Paradigms • 1) We are called to disciple nations, not only individuals. Mat 28:18-20 • 2) The Marketplace, which is the heart of a nation, has already been redeemed, and now needs to be reclaimed. Luke 19:10 • 3) Every Christian is a minister, and labor is worship. 1Tim2:1-8, Acts 20:34-35 • 4) WE are called to take the Kingdom of God to where the gates of hades are, for Jesus to build His Church.Mat 16:18 Keys of the Kingdom unlock the Gates of Hell • 5) Nation transformation must be tangible and the premier social indicator is the elimination of systemic poverty. Gal 2:10
Our Vision To equip a new generation of young marketplace professionals to bring transformation to the workplace, the community, and the world.
MAP 2013: What We Have Today • A robust local program • Real-world work experience + our transformational marketplace ministry training program • Intensive 2-day “boot camp” to lay a foundation before the work experience begins • 12 Fridays (full days) of training, development, mentoring, and active experiences • Final project: personal marketplace ministry plan (paper and live presentation)
MAP 2013: What We Have Today • A full-time director • Rev. Troy Austian • Background in both church and marketplace • A terrific coach, trainer and mentor • An impressive guest faculty (local and remote) • Real life models of marketplace ministry • Marketplace ministry and professional topics • Connections for networking and support • Individual guidance and mentoring
MAP 2013: What We Have Today • Content • Classroom, interactive, and experiential elements, plus assessments, peer discussions, activities, etc. • An approach geared to achieve understanding and personal application (not academic but a lifestyle) • Transformation core content (prayer evangelism, the 5 paradigms, real life examples) • Personal development (understand self and calling) • Servant-leadership training (focus on adding value, gives an edge in life and career)
MAP 2013: What We Have Today • All components integrated and woven together with transformation DNA to envision, equip, and launch young Marketplace Ministers • Our dream is that they flourish personally, but also that they replicate themselves, truly making disciples of nations. We operate MAP with much prayer, from before the recruitment process begins to praying for the apprentices at the end to commission and launch them as marketplace ministers. A great joy!
