  3. Rohan Dennis – The Bio At 23 years of age, Rohan Dennis is one of Australian cycling’s brightest and most determined young stars. Representing Australia at an international level only two years after starting competitive cycling, Rohan is an Olympic gold hopeful for London 2012, and after recently winning both the Road Race and the Time Trial at the U23 National Road Championships, he is in with an excellent chance. Continuing his outstanding form of 2011, where he was the overall winner of the Individual Pursuit World Cup, Rohan has impressed many with his courageous performance at the 2012 Tour Down Under. Riding for Team UniSA, he eradicated any doubts of him being pigeonholed as merely a track specialist, with his inspirational attack at the fifth stage. Rohan completed the 2012 Australian Tour Down Under with impressive accolades including the 2012 Skoda King of the Mountain and the Cycle Instead Young Rider’s jersey. Rohan Dennis - The Press Australian track rider Rohan Dennis wins cycling gold Herald Sun, January 7th 2012 Olympic hopeful Rohan Dennis made an ideal start to a massive year, winning the under-23 road title at the Australian road cycling championships. The 21-year-old South Australian outsprinted Victorian Eric Sheppard at Buninyong, near Ballarat on Saturday to win his first national under-23 road title. Dennis was in the team pursuit squad that won the world title on the track last year and they are big gold medal chances at the London Games. "It's a perfect start ... everything is based around the track and basically London is the No.1 goal," he said. "Every road race is going to be really (aimed at) trying to maximise my performance on the track this year." Rohan Dennis - The Press Crash overshadows brilliant ride from Rohan Dennis at the Santos Tour Down Under Amanda Lulham, The Daily Telegraph, January 17th 2012 WHILE German Andre Greipel earned praise for recovering from a crash to claim first stage win in the Santos Tour Down Under today a young Australian rider earned accolades as the unsung hero of the crash-marred opener of the WorldTour event. On a day many riders described as one of their worst ever in the saddle due to high temperatures and wild winds, Dennis threatened until the final 10km of the opening stage to steal the thunder of the best riders in the world. Part of a four-man breakaway in the 149km stage from the suburbs of Adelaide to the Clare Valley, Dennis came agonisingly close to pulling off a major sting before being reeled back in by a determined peloton. It wasn't what I was expecting,'' said the UniSA rider who just over a week ago won the under 23 Australia road crown. "It's a bit of a boost being able to do it with the pros a little bit as well.   8. Rohan Dennis - The Press New pursuit for Rohan Dennis Reece Homfray, January 24th, 2012 WORLD champion Rohan Dennis now is trying to lead SA's teams pursuit squad under the four-minute barrier. Dennis, 21, finished fifth overall in the Santos Tour Down Under riding for wildcard team UniSA and now has three days to recover for the national track titles which start on Thursday. The four-day championships at the Adelaide SuperDromewill feature Australian track cycling's biggest names as they attempt to book a spot at the London Olympics. Dennis yesterday admitted he was "pretty knackered" after his TDU heroics but hoped he would be ready to attack the individual and teams pursuit at full steam. "As long as I'm not sore when I throw my leg over the bike I'll be all right," he said. SA will field a superstar line-up in the teams pursuit led by Dennis, Jack Bobridge, Glenn O'Shea and Alex Edmondson. Last year, Dennis and Bobridge were part of Australia's team which won the world title in a scorching 3mins 57.65secs in The Netherlands. For a state team to go under four minutes, as SA hopes to this week, would be almost unheard of.
