  1. EID AND RAMADAN By Shamraz Khan!

  2. What is Eid! • Eid is a three day holiday/break after Ramadan. It celebrates that Ramadan the holy month of fasting is over. Eid is also a time for all Muslim families to gather together and celebrate Eid as a family.

  3. What is Ramadan! • Ramadan is when Muslims fast for 15-17 hours. When you fast in Ramadan it means that you cannot eat or drink for a certain amount of time. Ramadan last for 29 to 30 days depending to the month.

  4. Origins of Ramadan! • The name Ramadan had been the name of the ninth month in Arabian culture long before the arrival of Islam; the word itself derived from an Arabic root RMD. In the Qur'an, God proclaims that fasting has been written down (as obligatory) upon you, as it was upon those before you

  5. Iftar in Ramdan! • In many Muslim and non-Muslim countries with large Muslim populations, the faithful will abstain from food from dawn to sunset. At sunset, the family will gather the fast-breaking meal known as Iftar. The meal starts with the ritual eating of a date just as Prophet Muhammad was believed to have done. Then it's time for a prayer to thank God followed by the meal.
