Welcome to FACS (Family and Consumer Sciences) Mrs. Oliver 7th Grade-Personal Development • Bellwork: Please get out your agenda and write down what the CW (classwork) and HW (Homework ) for today is. • Write a paragraph telling me what you did over break and something about yourself. How many kids are in your family, your hobbies, things you are excited about middle school! Objective: getting to know classroom rules and expectations CW: Syllabus, Foldable HW: Share your syllabus with your parents Day 1

Objective: Identify positive steps to the development of self-esteem CW: Special you project HW: Special you Project if not finished in class. Be prepared to present in class next class period It’s a GREAT day to be a Huskie!!!

  5. 7th Grade Day 4 Bellwork:What is one of your short term goals? What is one of your long term goals? Objective: Identify what are values are and why it’s ok that we all have different values. CW: Present collages, self in a sack project, talk about goals. HW: Self in a sack complete at home! Bring in your 3 items!!!!

  6. 7th Grade Day 5 Bellwork: What is a skill? What is a talent? Objective: Identify what your long and short term goals are CW: What’s my line Notes on skills vs. talents, do you have skills or talent, Notes on goal and compare and contrast long/short term goals. HW: Complete goals chart.

  7. 7th Grade Day 6 Bellwork: Who is your best friend? What makes them such a great friend? What are your favorite things to do together? Objective: practice how to promote good communication skills. CW: communicating activity, communication notes, I statements, Friend graphic organizer, Friend poem and paper. HW: Test next class!

CW:Demo on measuring ingredients, Safety in the Kitchen notes, and Truths and Myths on dishwashing. HW: None !

  12. 7th Grade Day 10 Bellwork: Test in 5 mins=STUDY!!! Objective: Identify and practice good measuring techniques. CW:Basic equipment, recipe terms & definitions, Who has I have, Kitchen test HW: Have a great night!

  13. 7th Grade Day 11 Bellwork: Get out your recipes and get started! Objective: Create a meal in the foods lab. CW:Fill out lab forms and go through lab procedures, rules & market orders HW: Bring in a rubber band for hair if long enough!

  14. 7th Grade Day 12 Bellwork: Get out your recipe and finish copying them. You have 20 mins if you want to cook! Clear all items off your table. One person get out your groups lab plan and place on your table! Objective: Create a meal in the foods lab and follow a written recipe. CW:Orange Julius HW: Bring in a rubber band for hair if long enough!

  15. 7th Grade Day 13 Bellwork: Get out your recipe. Clear all items off your table. What are the ingredients in Mini Pizzas? First person in group pre-heat oven, look on recipe for heat! One person get out your groups lab plan and place on your table! Objective: Create a meal in the foods lab and follow a written recipe. CW:Mini Cheese Pizza HW: Tell your parents about your cooking experience!

  16. 7th Grade Day 14 Bellwork: Get out your recipe. Clear all items off your table. What are the ingredients in Hot Bean Tortilla Pizzas? First person pre-heat oven to correct temperature. Objective: Create a meal in the foods lab and follow a written recipe. CW:Hot Bean Tortilla Pizzas HW: Tell your parents about your cooking experience!

  17. 7th Grade Day 15 Bellwork: Get out your recipe. Clear all items off your table. What are the ingredients in Cinnamon Twists? Pre-heat ovens! Objective: Create a meal in the foods lab and follow a written recipe. CW:Cinnamon Twists HW: Tell your parents about your cooking experience!

  18. 7th Grade: Sewing Day 16 • Bellwork: Have you ever sewn before? What do you think is the scariest part? • Objective: Cut and pin fabric so it’s ready to sew • CW: Sewing rules, Before we sew powerpoint, Sewing Tool ID and practice on paper.

  19. 7th Grade: Sewing • Day 17 • Bellwork: What type of gym bag are you making (What’s the fabric that you picked out)? Why did you pick the fabric you have? • Objective: Demonstrate how to use the sewing machine correctly and identify the sewing machine parts. • CW: Begin work on project, cutting and pinning • HW: Have a good night!

  20. 7th Grade: Sewing • Day 18,19 • Bellwork: Get out your fabric and get start READING! • If you want on a machine you must be READING!!!! • Objective: Create a drawstring Gym Bag • CW: Sewing Gym Bag • HW: Have a great night!

  21. 7th Grade: Child Development • Day 20 • Bellwork: Have you ever babysat before? What did you like and dislike the most about it? • Objective: Identify the milestones and activities for the different stages of child development. • CW: Advance graphic organizer, PowerPoint and mind web. • HW: Mind web if not finished.

  22. 7th Grade: Day 21 Bellwork: What is your favorite age to babysit for? What age wouldn’t you like to babysit? Get out laptop when finished!! Objective: finish mind web CW: mind webs HW: Have a good night!

  23. 7th Grade: Day 22 Bellwork: Get out your groups lab plan for play-dough and hang it up, Clear off your desks and get out grade sheet for your presentation. Objective: Understand the stages of child development! CW: Make Play-dough and presentations HW: Have a great Day!!!
