Cultivating the Presence of God • History of the Ark • 1 Samuel 6:1-18 Sent back to Israel • 1 Samuel 6:19 Seventy men killed for looking upon the ark • 1 Samuel 7:1-2 Goes to Kiriath-jearim and stays there for 20 years – and the people lamented after the Lord • 1 Samuel 21:1-9 The temple continues to function WITHOUT the ark

Lessons Learned • God’s presence is not to be presumed upon or misused for personal gain • God’s presence can be an enemy • Religion and its rites can continue even without the presence of God • God’s presence must be respected and honored according to HIM • God loves the heart of those who want his presence • God’s presence blesses those who cultivate it
