Robotic PTZ Video Cameras • Two fixed cameras at the north and south ends of lab • Two wireless cameras for experiment-specific viewing • Pan, tilt, and zoom controlled from telepresence portal • Video streams can be routed to Data Turbine server and viewed with the Real-time Data Viewer (RDV) • Up to 10 frames/second at 640x480 pixels CU-NEES 2008 FHT Workshop

Robotic Still Image Cameras • Three Olympus C750 4.0 megapixel cameras on robotic pan/tilt bases • Controlled via LabVIEW GUI or web interface • Captured images fed into Data Turbine for viewing with RDV • Used for remotely viewing fine detail at low frame rates (10 seconds/frame) CU-NEES 2008 FHT Workshop

  7. MiniDV Camera • Canon GL2 Three CCD digital video camcorder with 16-bit stereo sound • Captured video edited and reformatted with open-source video tools (Kino, MJPEG Tools) • Reduced quality video can be streamed to Data Turbine in real time CU-NEES 2008 FHT Workshop

Local Data Management • Data is moved from data sources to local data repository via network file system • Data from Data Turbine acquired with data sink tools • Local repository stored on redundant disk array with automatic tape backup • Data manually uploaded to NEES Central • Metadata manually uploaded to NEES Central CU-NEES 2008 FHT Workshop

Data Turbine • Numeric and image data is fed into the Ring Buffered Network Bus (RBNB) “Data Turbine” • Data Turbine is responsible for collecting and synchronizing data from data sources • Synchronized data is streamed to Real-time Data Viewer (RDV) clients • Synchronized data is also streamed to disk for later access CU-NEES 2008 FHT Workshop

RDV • Used to view real-time, streaming data over a network from a Data Turbine Server • “Instant Replay” functionality with variable speed playback • Synchronizes numeric, video, and still image data • Allows user to overlay data from local PC onto streamed data • Developed by Buffalo NEES equipment site CU-NEES 2008 FHT Workshop

FlexTPS • Allows remote viewing and robotic control of live video over the internet using only a standard web browser • Digital Video Recorder (DVR) functionality allows video streams to be recorded and played back • Collaboration function allows video streams from local site and other NEES sites to be viewed together • Developed by University of Texas, Austin equipment site CU-NEES 2008 FHT Workshop
