Declined applications • In most regions the most common reason for declining an application continues to be ‘not homeless’ South East England • In South East England the number of households ‘not in priority need’ increased 24% on the previous year
Why people are homeless The end of an assured shorthold tenancy was the main reason for loss of last settled home for the first time in Q2 2014 across England This varies by region: from 37% in London to 9% in North West England In South East England 28% of households became homeless for this reason
Temporary accommodation Numbers in temporary accommodation increased 6% in England and 7% in South East England compared to the previous year South East England has a higher percentage of people in TA in B&Bs and in LA/RSL stock compared to England

Our asks to help end homelessness • Consultation launched at Annual Conference – until mid-September • On-line & social media • Workshops with our Service User Champion groups • Regional summits • Individual member meetings • Blogs during August • September-October: analysis and initial testing with stakeholders • November – December: finessing the asks and producing our manifesto • Launch in January at Parliamentary reception • February+ : working with members to gain commitment from parliamentarians

Conferences • Homeless Link Conferences: • Young and Homeless 19 November LondonThis national conference will consider how to tackle the increasing problem of youth homelessness. It will explore the need for relationship support between families and young people, realistic move on options and possible prevention and early intervention measures. • No Return to the Streets 11 December LondonThis conference will explore new responses to reducing rough sleeping and supporting move on, alongside innovative practice in a residential setting.
