  2. Key Areas of Learning to Shape the Wirral Plan of the Future

Understanding Resident Need – Joint Strategic Needs Assessment • The JSNA is a systematic review of the health and wellbeing needs of the local population • Effective priority setting and decision making is underpinned by use of good insight • Developing the JSNA is a collective approach with partnership and resident engagement • A major refresh is underway to provide an updated needs analysis to support priority setting for the future Wirral Plan – title - ‘This is Wirral’ • The refresh will provide a set of findings from the latest analysis, new sections in key areas underpinned by detailed sets of analysis linked to each key area • The JSNA is published on the Wirral Intelligence Service Website

Understanding Resident Need – People’s Panels Undertake a People’s Panel in all nine Wirral neighbourhoods based on the Citizen Inquiry model Wirral Partnership have commissioned the work with key partners engaged in the design People’s Panels will provide: • Neighbourhood and Wirral insight to inform key strategic policy development and locally based engagement • Enhanced relationship between local people and services, recruiting and engaging a network of local participants to lead the work • Allow partnership to uncover opportunities for working alongside local residents to improve outcomes

The Wirral Plan Survey 2019 • 62% of respondents felt that the Wirral Plan had improved outcomes for Wirral residents; the remaining 38% were unsure • No respondents felt that the Wirral Plan had not improved outcomes for Wirral Residents • Key benefits were improved integrated working and increased knowledge sharing between partners • 48% of respondents felt that there had been issues in delivering the Wirral Plan, 36% were unsure and the remaining 16% felt there were no issues

Key Messages From Survey Respondents “We need to create a safe healthy environment for resident's and investment into the area will naturally follow” “Wirral Plan was a great success – need the same level of buy-in for the next one” “Effective Partnership working is the right approach” “Easy to monitor through Steering Groups – Good transparency” “Need to generate greater awareness, involvement and representation” “There needs to be more opportunities to share success and learning” “Greater context around Wirral as a Great place to work and live – not just statistics “ “Balance need for Growth & Climate Change” “Too Many Pledge Areas?”
