  1. Norse Gods By Eli Welton

  2. PART ONE: GODS Thor, Balder, Loki, Odin, Hemidall, Frigg, And Freya. Who were they and what did they do?

  3. This is Thor. He is god of lightning and fighting. Thor’s hammer is named Mjolner. It was given to him by Loki, and forged by dwarves. his wife is Freya.

  4. This is Odin. He is father of most gods. He can speak only in poetry. Odin stole the mead of poetry from the giants, which allows him to erect beautiful poetry. He is able to see runes (powerfully charged symbols). He only has one eye, for he sacrificed the other for wisdom. Odin is accompanied by two crows, Hugin & Munin. He is known as the “allfather”.

  5. This is balder. He is god of Joy, Purity Beauty, and innocence. Most stories of him, concern his death. He was dreaming about his death, so Frigg extracted an oath, from every animal saying they would not harm balder, besides mistletoe. The gods were happy about this so they threw spears, shot arrows, and threw knives at him. Loki, feeling jealous, fashioned a dart from the mistletoe plant. He then guided balder’s blind brother Hod to throw the dart at Balder.

  6. This is Frigg. She is Odin’s wife, and mother of balder. the word “Friday” originated from Frigg

  7. This is Hemidall. He is the gatekeeper of the Bifrost. The Bifrost is the rainbow bridge that leads to asgard. He requires less sleep than a bird, can see 100 leagues, can hear grass growing in a faraway field, and can hear wool growing on a sheep This is Tyr. He is god of war, and lawgiver of the gods. He sacrifices his hand so fenric can be bound. I will talk about Fenrir later

  8. Part Two: Ragnark, or the End of the worlds. What was this final battle between gods & giants all about?

  9. This is Loki. he is the trickster god & god of fire. he brings gifts to the gods by giving thor his hammer and Odin his horse ; Slepnir. During ragnark he leads the giants and the deamons into battle against the Aesir, the Valkries, the deceased warriors in Valhalla, and the Vanir gods.

  10. This is Fenrir. he is the son of Loki and a giantess. the gods saw Fenrir’s epic power, and knew that he must be contained, for they couldn’t defeat him. He was chained with a magical chain made of the sound of a cat’s footsteps, the beard of a woman, and the breath of fish. During Ragnark he eats Odin & the sun. he was bound by tyr

  11. This is Ragnark. it is the destruction of all of the nine worlds. It is only fully described in the Icelandic poem Voluspa. In this poem it is preceded by cruel winters and Moral chaos. During Ragnark Giants & deamons will approach from all sides of the compass to attack the gods, who face death like heroes. it was supposed to be on february 22,2014
