The modern buildings stand on the site of the Royal Palace of Westminster, which was built by Edward the Confessor in the 11th century. The Palace was very badly damaged by fire in 1834; all that could be saved was Westminster Hall, built in 1097-99 and rebuilt in 1394-99. The present Houses of Parliament were built between 1840 and 1867 from designs by Sir Charles Barry and Augustus Pugin.

Trafalgar Square is in the centre of the West End of London. On the north side there is the National Gallery; in the north-east corner there is the National Portrait Gallery, and in the centre there is Nelsons Column with the figure of the great seaman. On the Trafalgar area at the top of the column in height of 145 foots the figure of Nelson is established. The monument to this legendary admiral, the winner of Trafalgar fight of 1805, is surrounded by four lions of work of sir Edvina Lendsera.
Piccadilly Circus is a square in the central part of London. London’s best-known theatres and cinemas and most famous restaurants are on Piccadilly Circus. In the square you can see people of many nationalities and hear a lot of different languages.
Green-park is located between the Buckingham Palace and Piccadilly Circus. Green-park is an excellent place where it is possible to sit on a grass, having substituted the person to the sun.
