  15. GSL Support The story in Abingdon & KA so far...

  16. The Issue • A disconnect between line management and adult training. • POR is clear: • Line management responsibility to ensure that adult volunteers have been trained within the time limits prescribed. • County training responsibility to provide a programme of adult training and validation opportunities within the County.

  17. GSL-TA Meeting – November 2010 • GSLs do not have access to the information necessary to best assure and support the training of adult volunteers in the Group; and as a result • GSLs do not generally support the training process and ensure that all adult volunteers in the Group have completed the prescribed training.

  18. What we want to achieve... • Work with GSLs to ensure that adult volunteers are getting training; • build good relationships between GSLs and the training team; and • ensure the training team provides the services necessary for local Scouting. Courses Validation TA Support Bespoke Training

  19. TA – GSL Support Meet 1:1 with GSL annually to: • Ensure training records are up to date. • Identify issues or things that are “falling between the cracks”. • Share the training view and the Group view. • Create a shared training plan • Identify adults that require learning • Identify adults that require validation • Agree how the requirements will be met

  20. Behind the scenes... • TAs brief the reviewer on issues (if any) with learners. • Prepare a list of all adults undertaking training from the Group – including status. • Name of TA under module 2 (PLP) on the database.
