Choosing a topic • Choose a topic which you would like to investigate.. Examples of topics are “leadership”, “satisfaction”, “quality of life”, etc. • Narrow down your topic. The more specific your topic the better. Example of a specific topic is “Leadership style of second generation CEOs in Hakka Chinese family business” • Or “Satisfaction of employees with the counselling sessions in medium size companies in Skudai” • Or “The relationship between personality and job satisfaction among Bangladesh workers in PasirGudang”
Contents: • Introduction • Write down at least two objectives of your “research”. • Give at least two rationales why you want to do the “research”. • List three groups of people who will benefit from your “research” • Literature Review • Instruments • Conclusion
Contents: LITERATURE REVIEW • Write at least three topics ( and their subtopics) relevant to the “research” which you have chosen. One of the topics has to be about theories related to your “research”. • Eg: If your topic is “Satisfaction of employees with the counselling sessions in medium size companies in Skudai”, then your topics in the literature review must contains some topics related to “satisfaction of employees with counselling sessions” , “medium size companies” and also theory/ies related to the topic.
Contents: instrument • Imagine you are going to collect the data for your “research”. Decide how you are going to collect your data, that is using what instrument. • Examples of instruments are questionnaire and interview questions. Or, you may want to do observation, or using specific method such as critical incident technique. Or it can be a combination of two instruments.
Contents: instruments 4. If you decide to do a survey by using a questionnaire, find two (2) questionnaires which are suitable for your “study”. These questionnaires must the ones which have been accepted by the research community. Questionnaires which appear in the internet without any authority is not accepted. Attach the questionnaires as appendices. 5. If you decide to use interviews as your data collection method, write down your interview questions. Please quote at least two ( 2) authors who have used similar questions for their studies. 6. Similarly with observation, write down what you are going to observe and how you are going to record your observation. Please quote at least two ( 2) authors who have use similar observations for their studies. Attach articles in the appendices.
Contents : conclusion, Ref and appendices • Make a good conclusion • Include references using the UTM style. • Attach your questionnaire/ articles in the appendix or send me via the mail too.
Date of submission etc: • Latest date for your assignments to reach me : by 17 th. December 2011 • Earlier date is acceptable, later not acceptable, sorry. • There will be no presentation. • Have a good time doing your assignment and consider it a practice to do future researches.
