  2. Introduction There are two ways to express the future using the present tense: • IR + “a” + infinitive Voy a comer I’m going to eat • Present tense + context + expression Yo necesito un coche mañana I need a car tomorrow

  3. IR + a + Infinitive • As you remember, one way to express future action is to use the present tense of IR (to go) + a + Verb in infinitive form. • Examples: Ellos van a correr They are going to run Laura va a estudiar Laura is going to study

  4. Present tense to expressfuture action • The other way to express a future action is to use the present tense + a context which indicates that you are referring to the future. • The following expressions may denote a future action: Después afterwards, later Más tarde later Esta nochetonight Mañana tomorrow Pasado mañana the day after tomorrow La próxima semananext week El próximo mes/año next month/year
