3. How to help your 7th grader It is imperative that you monitor your student’s progress in math. If your student begins to struggle or fall behind, please consider the following: Work with them at home! Ask to see their homework each night. Check agendas and Infinite Campus at least weekly. Each math teacher has one tutoring day per week. Utilize this time, it’s free! Encourage your students to be self-advocates. Teachers cannot address issues they do not know about.

5. 2010 AZ Common Core Standards What do the 2010 Arizona Common Core State Standards mean for students? • Help prepare students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in education and training after high school. • Clearer standards help students understand what is expected of them. • Consistent expectations across states for all students, regardless of where they live or if they decide to attend college or pursue a job. • Relevant content and application of knowledge through high-order thinking skills • Help ensure Arizona students are globally competitive.

9. Students are responsible for obtaining missing work from class and/or my website. Work is due on the due date at the beginning of class, otherwise it’s considered late (1/2 of original points). No work shown or incomplete work (at teacher’s discretion) is not accepted and an X will be stamped in the agenda. Grade is a “0” till work is brought in and given ½ of original points. 10. Tests/Quizzes • Students will be allowed to use one3x5 card on most tests/quizzes (teachers discretion). Any information they want from their notes may be written on front and back. • Students have one week from the test/quiz date to make up the missed test/quiz, otherwise grade will remain a “0”.

11. Communication • Agendas - please check your students agenda nightly. Look for an X in the subject area to determine which homework was not turned in or was incomplete. I stamp on the day the homework was due for homework given the day before.
