California Hospital Association • CHA is one of the largest hospital trade associations in the nation serving more than 400 acute care hospitals and health systems and represent 98 percent of the licensed beds in California.
CHA Hospital Preparedness Program • Provides services and products to hospitals statewide regarding emergency preparedness via the following methods: • Technical assistance, educational workshops (HICS etc.), exercise planning tools, dedicated website, meeting participation and advocacy • Foster relationships and partnering among hospitals and health systems, community response partners and local, regional and state emergency planning partners. • Annual Disaster Planning Conference (October 15-17, 2012) • Website – www.calhospitalprepare.org
Regulations & Requirements • Regulations (CCR Title 22 & 24) • Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (Conditions of Participation) • Accreditation Standards (TJC Emergency Management) • Grant Requirements (HHS/ASPR/HPP)
Joint Commission Accreditation Requirement(s) • 96-Hour Capability / Six Critical Areas • Communications • Resources and Assets • Security and Safety • Staff • Utilities • Patient Care • Hospitals are not required to stockpile supplies to last for 96 hours of operation.
