Course Basics CCE 160 Connecting to Children D4 –Initiative, Cooperation & Perseverance
Basics: Textbook & Class Sessions • Textbook – none • Class session: • Meet every Wednesday night • Usually from 8:30-9:00 (1/2 hour) • Some nights will go as late as 9:50 depending on what is needed for this or other classes

Basics: References Proper referencing to avoid plagiarism: • Necessary info, no specific format (APA best): • On “Reference” page at end = 0.5 pts • Author. • Date. • Title (webpage/article/book/music/video). • Source: • Webpage: full http address and date retrieved. • Journal/magazine: journal title, volume, issue number & pages. • Book or music: publisher. • In text = 0.5 pts • In parentheses or as footnote • Info: author, date; & page number(s) if direct quote

Cooperation Study = 10 pts • Assignment • With same 2+ children, record their cooperation for 2 weeks • Significant period of time would be best, Free Choice time best • Witness cooperative acts (as we have defined them) • Record per child per day: • Check-mark for each “Instance” of cooperation; multiple for same child • Mark length of an instance: 4+ or 10+ minutes; 1 per child per day • Complete A4a Word table • Bring A4a data to class (1st week) • Continue during 2nd Week • Complete A4b Word table • Bring A4b data to class (2nd week)

Cooperation Study = 10 pts • Time Requirements: • Pair/group of children, as much time as possible • With one or more children (probably age 3+) • Record actions of children (count and duration) • Record data for week 1, will continue through 2nd week • Submission Requirements • Bring data to class • Post table in Word to Drop Box A 4a (week 1); A 4b (week 2) • Post data to “A 4” Discussion (paste not Word) : A 4a & A 4b as above • Respond to others’ posts for extra credit[0.1 point per reply by next Tuesday night]
