UVA/PT in Hall A Outline • Some Target area illustrations and Photos • Equipment stands • Down stream Beam Line and Dump • Typical Scattering Chamber customization • Cost summary • Cost details • Conclusions
Hall A UVA/PT Beam Line Chicane 10 m 4 m Tungsten calorimeter Slow raster SEM BPM EP 85cm BCM Moller Fast raster Target center Major Installation • Chicane Design : Jay Benesh (JLab CASA) • Two upstream Dipoles, one with vertical degree of freedom. • Reuse the dipoles from the HKS experiment. • Utilize open space upstream of target. • Minimal interference with existing beamline equipment. UVA/Jlab 5 T Polarized Target Upstream Chicane and supports Slow raster and Basel SEM. Instrumentation for 50-100 nA beam. Local beam dump. Hall A Septa.
UVA/PT in Hall A Cost Summary • Total cost of Beam line & girder 195K$ • Total cost of UVA PT in Hall A457K$ • Total Experiment Specific costs for the UVA/PT 261 K$ • Total cost of Beam line, Pol target and RT septum913K$
Conclusions UVA/PT in Hall A • Installation of UVA/PT in Hall A is Feasible • Cost is significant at 913 K$ Total inc. Labor • Eng & Design 125 MW (+20% / -0%) • Eng and Design is a 12 month effort! • Removal &Installation 90 MW ( +20 % / -0%) • This can be done in the 6 Month shutdown
