B. Importance of Wetlands • Provide natural water filtration • Help control floods by absorbing extra runoff
C. The Everglades: A Unique Environment • Provide habitats for many endangered species • Chemicals threaten Everglades • Some has been filled in to build new homes • Water redirected changed the flow of water- some areas are drying up while other have flooded • Government working to save the Everglades by using a pipe system to redirect water
