Background • Development commenced in Nov 2001 • 6 month consultation with all stakeholders and potential user’s • System to match development of ICP for mental health • Electronic information was available for all admissions/discharges etc, but not community activity • 4 months programming
Background (Cont) • Buy “off the shelf” or “build in-house” • 9 Community Mental Health Teams and Team Leaders all established • Not all teams co-located into single offices • All records currently paper based • Poor activity recording • Information only accessible within office hours
Aims • Effective information sharing and access to clinical information to all community based clinical staff • Active involvement of stakeholders through consultation • Improved quality of information • 24\7 access to client information • Enhanced communication. • Improved quality and ease of reporting.
Progress to Date • All Community Mental Health Teams connected to system • 130+ users • 95+% of all CMHT clinical staff trained in use of system • Ongoing review and rewriting of system as required to meet changes in practice • Continuing support and training for all practitioners
Progress to Date (Cont) • Accessible regionwide • Provision of additional hardware to support the rollout. • Improved and quicker reporting • Additional networking and infrastructure • Links to other IT developments (SSA, SSD) • Improved computer literacy across clinical staff • Improved sharing of information/Joint working
