Final Project By: Jessica Leopoldo “Schoology”
First, I contacted a “friend-of-a-friend” at Lockheed Martin. Tim is a computer engineer and known as a program guru. We emailed back and forth discussing different programs that he uses before I settled on my Professional Development.

Good luck with your Professional Development project. • -Tim On Tue, Dec 13, 2011 at 3:08 PM, Jessica Leopoldo <jess.leopoldo@gmail.com> wrote: I am not the biggest fan of Dreamweaver either, but I am getting the hang of it slowly. Prezi is a great program. It is very similar to PowerPoint. I have grown to really like it. And it is free! I just found out that I am going to be teaching the Professional Development on Schoology. It is a social networking site that the school is interested in learning, but I am still interested in learning more about SharePoint. Thank you for staying in contact with me though! I do not know how much it costs, but you could probably find out on their website or download free trial programs to explore. The wiki is a great tool for companies and classrooms. I actually have not heard of Prezi or Schoology, but I have used Dreamweaver for some project concepts last year. I am not the biggest fan, but it is one of the most use programs. • -Tim On Thu, Dec 8, 2011 at 2:56 PM, Jessica Leopoldo <jess.leopoldo@gmail.com> wrote:I have never heard of Microsoft SharePoint; it sounds like a very interesting, and useful, program. How much does it cost? I like how it incorporates the use of Wiki. Would love to hear more about it. As for other programs, we have learned a bit about Prezi, Dreamweaver, and are using Schoology (a educational social network) in class. Do you have any experience with any of these programs? We use a few different programs at work that I am very familiar with. I'm not sure what exactly you'd be interested in teaching a seminar about, but a program I use that springs to mind is Microsoft's SharePoint. We use it at work to do a few different things, including sharing document s and creating calendars to keep track of test equipment schedules. We also use the sharepoint wiki to informally share ideas and document "gotchas" and other development tips. Something like this might be beneficial in an educational environment and a little more interesting than the standard microsoft office package. I'd be happy to discuss how we use it further (keeping in mind I'm not an expert), or did you have another program you were interested in? -Tim On Fri, Dec 2, 2011 at 5:00 PM, Jessica Leopoldo <jess.leopoldo@gmail.com> wrote:Hi Tim, As you know, my name is Jess, and I am currently enrolled in a Educational Media graduate program at Dominican College. I've heard that you are familiar with many, many computer programs and software, and for this class, I need to find a person to assist me in becoming an expert in a program so that I can teach a Professional Development at a school district. Would you mind sharing some of your expertise?? I would love to hear about some of your favorite programs. Thank you, Jess
When I finally solidified my plans for my Professional Development, I set out to make a friend that had used Schoology before. I began my search through Facebook which led me to join the New Jersey Educators Network on Schoology and contact Crystal.
Survey Survey # 1 – I created my first survey for teachers, but since Jen had already sent her survey to the school district that I am teaching my Professional Development, I sent this survey to any teachers I knew personally and created a second survey. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MYWFVG2 Survey # 2 – Second survey that I designed for professionals that are not in the teaching field. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/R5W2XQJ
