Overview and Background • Tribal energy mission statement: To be 100% self-sufficient in energy, while safeguarding the Tribe’s lands, waters, air, human health, and culture. • Projects under development: • Commercial wind – 50.5 MW wind project on Blueberry farm • In-stream tidal power, two-FERC approved sites in Passamaquoddy Bay • Half-moon Cove tidal barrage 10 MW project • Geothermal project with Passamaquoddy Bay for heat • Domestic wind turbines, solar panels

  8. Costs • 18’ x 10’ x 24’ greenhouse: $4,450 • 60- 10” x 6 ft acrylic tubes = $3,760 • Air pump=$ • CO2 supply $500 • Plumbing= $3,000 • Floor and sill= $600 • Extraction process= $4,000 • Installation= 40 m-hr @$20/hr= $800 TOTAL = $17110, rounded up to $20k

  9. Summary • Projection and hopes: If capital and installation costs = $20k; operating costs = $20/month or 100/year And oil production is 400 gal/season, over a 15 yr period oil would be $3.58/gal. (Maine oil cost today is 3.24) 20 years = $2.75 gal. • KEY POINT-SELF SUFFICIENT!
