What is APEC CEPI? • Officially endorsed by APEC Small & Medium Enterprises (SME) Ministerial, April 1999 in Christchurch, New Zealand • A progressive public-private partnership for helping APEC Economies by facilitating long term SME growth through consumer educational initiatives • Programs to date: Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Mexico, Russia, (Korea in progress)
Why Your Government Should Support APEC CEPI? APEC CEPI programs address important and pressing issues such as: • Identify Consumer rights and responsibilities • Protect consumers and aspiring entrepreneurs from the increasing number of fraudulent business practices and pyramid schemes • Develop a consumer-friendly regulatory environment • Promote consumer protection in e-commerce
