  2. Who uses polygons and area? Flooring Installers Flooring installers are hired by contractors to install, repair, or replace floor coverings such as carpet and tile. Landscape Architects Landscape architects use their engineering knowledge and creativity to design outdoor environments such as parks, gardens, and recreational areas. Even Lawn Care Providers Lawn care providers need to be able to calculate the square footage of properties to determine how much to charge for their services and to determine where to place sprinkler heads for adequate water coverage.

  3. 2 Types of Polygons • A polygon is convex if no line that contains a side of the polygon passes through the interior of the polygon. • A polygon is concave has at least one extended side that passes through the interior of the polygon.

  4. Determine whether the figure is convex or concave.

  5. More types of Polygons • A polygon is equilateral if all of its sides are congruent. • A polygon is equiangular if all of its interior angle measures are congruent. • A polygon is regular if it is both equilateral and equiangular.

  6. Decide whether the polygon is equilateral, equiangular, or regular.

  7. Decide whether the polygon is convex or concave, then classify it as equilateral, equiangular, or regular.
