Compliance to Personal Information Protection Law • An entity with 5000+ personal information is required to comply with the law • Notice of the purpose of collecting such information, appropriate handling and NDA • JANOG has the distribution member list with 5000+ e-mail address • Lawyer consultation was concluded that JANOG needed to comply with it in order to avoid the risk of lawsuits • A working group was formed to prepare the process and documents
Donation Program – a funding model of JANOG • JANOG has neither revenue nor expense • Servers and IDCs are donated, Operations by volunteer • The expenses for the meetings are fully born by the host companies • Lawyer consultation did cost • Collecting contribution was a possible solution, but it would introduce revenue and book-keeping burden into JANOG • Solution – a generalized donation program • Ask Industry firms for pay the cost directly, for and instead of JANOG, with some logo exposure and acknowledgement in return
