  2. Hatshepsut • She was born in Egypt in 1508 B.C. • She died in 1458 B.C.

Information • Hatshepsut was the daughter of Thutmose 1 and the wife of Thutmose 2. • When her husband died, his son and successor Thutmose 3 was still a child. • Hatshepsut was expected to rule in the boy’s place until he grew up, but she wanted more. • She had herself crowned as the Pharaoh. • She ruled for twenty years. • In art, Hatshepsut is sometimes shown dressed as a male Pharaoh.
