Figure shows precipitation information for May 2003, from observations, CWRF and MM5 simulations. Clearly the CWRF captured the major characteristics of the observed heavy rainfall in the central eastern area, while MM5 did not. It indicates more credibility of underlying physics and dynamics in the CWRF model. Note that global scale circulation information is passed to the CWRF at its lateral boundaries.
