Middle States Accreditation: Excellence by Design • By the time students have experienced our full educational program and services, what should our students know and how should they be able to use what they know? What content, skills, and work habits should be the priorities for learning? What attitudes, qualities or characteristics should our students demonstrate? • How well should our students perform the desired outcomes, and what does excellent performance look like? • How will we measure and evaluate our students’ performance in multiple ways? • How well do our students currently perform? What is the actual quality of their work? • What must we do to grow and improve our students’ performance?
Middle States Accreditation Serves as a mechanism for improving a school system’s ability to produce levels of student performance - *School Districts can demonstrate this in different ways

Overview of the • Middle States Process • Standards are used to make decisions in the Middle States Process • Standards do not determine what school systems look like • Indicators analyze a standard and demonstrate that a particular standard has been met
Overview of the • Middle States Process • Example of a “Standard”: • Financial resources are sufficient to provide the educational opportunities defined in the school system’s philosophy/mission. • Indicator 4.14: Our school’s leadership exercises prudent control over all financial operations. • Indicator 4.15: Our school’s staff is involved in determining financial priorities for curriculum and instructional needs.

Student Achievement • Goals • Goal #1: By the year 2017, the student achievement of underperforming subgroups will increase as measured by their student growth plans • Goal #2: By the year 2017, student enrollment will increase in advanced academic courses in grades 6-12, for the purpose of maximizing student achievement
