SAGE Suite March Release Ciara Nic Mhathúna Office of Research Information Services
March 17th SAGE Release • New Look SAGE Suite • Usability changes for SAGE • Revised navigation and form design • SAGE Budget Phase II • Internal UW Sub-budgets • Subcontracts • Fabrication budgets • New ASTRA Global Edit Role • Ability to edit all completed eGC1s for a unit (based on span of control)
New ASTRA Role Global Edit
Background • Inappropriate levels of access allowed users to workaround system limitations. • Examples: • Users were being given reviewer level access, when all they needed was ability to edit for a unit. • Reviewers needed read/write access to the eGC1 to make edits quickly and avoid delays. • Ability to edit and approve/deny needed to be separate and distinct to provide transparency on who could appropriately take action on an eGC1.
New ASTRA Roles • Read-Only • Can view or copy all eGC1s created by that unit. • Cannot make changes or edits. • Global Edit • Can view or copy all eGC1s created by that unit. • Can change or edit existing eGC1s. • Access to both is through eApprovals – you can only view completed eGC1s. • A user can have multiple roles. • Access determined by Span of Control.
Examples • New to Unit – need to be able to create eGC1s and access previously completed eGC1s: • Preparer • Global Edit • Reviewer – need to be able to approve and make changes to eGC1s: • Reviewer • Global Edit
ASTRA Administrators • Review existing roles and consult with units to determine what access is required. • Note: • SAGE RRF and Access Enhancement release in August 2009 removed the ability to withdraw and edit the eGC1 directly from the Approval Graph. • With New Look, the ability to withdraw and edit the eGC1 directly from the Approval Tasklist will also be removed. • Reviewers will need the Global Edit role if they require ability to withdraw and make changes to eGC1s.
New Look SAGE Suite • Easier to scan • Realigned labels • Removed visual clutter • Simplified layouts • Tabs in SAGE for Budget, eGC1 Forms, Approvals, Advances • Improved navigation and breadcrumb trails • Improved Help • Enhanced instruction text • Sample prompts within fields • Standard look across all SAGE Suite Products • Easier to learn
Budget Phase II – New Features • Sub Budgets • Internal UW Sub Budgets • Subcontracts • Fabrication budgets • Benefits: • Increased opportunities to collaborate • Split F&A rates • Standardized format – easier for reviewers • Easier to work with renewals and resubmissions
