To make formal commands: • Start with the yo form of the present indicative. • Drop the -o ending. • Add the following endings: • -ar verbs: -e (for Ud.), -en (for Uds.) • -er and -ir verbs: -a (for Ud.), -an (for Uds.)

Negative formal commands No verb changes! RID pronounds are placed before the verb. Don’t sit down. No se siente. Don’t order them (the tacos) No los pida. • Don’t smoke (fumar). • No fume. • Don’t open the window. • No abra la ventana.
