Who should use this presentation & read the code Managers of staff, staff, and those responsible for facility users, visitors and contractors on STFC sites, who work with Hazardous Substances and arrange or dispatch them from those sites. Or move them on STFC sites.
STFC Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Group SHE Code 27 “Receipt and Dispatch of Hazardous Substances”
Key features • Code establishes controls for movement Hazardous Substances from STFC sites. • It also provides guidance for on site movement of hazardous substances. • It does not apply to disposal of wastes. • Code addresses requirements of relevant road, sea and air transport legislation: • for example the Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations, 2009.
Key Points Gives procedures for identifying and despatching Hazardous Substances/Dangerous Goods from site. Outlines the training needs for staff involved in despatching such items. Gives examples of completed versions of the despatch form. Formalises the appointment of Dangerous Goods Safety Advisors (DGSAs) and Radioactive Substance Dispatchers.
