Value-added • Taking a product and changing the way it is marketed in order to increase what it is worth (value) • This typically involves adding utility to the product marketing
Utility: four types • Form utility • Place utility • Time utility • Possession utility marketing
Form Utility • Changing the form of the product to increase its value • Processing, packaging, etc marketing
Place Utility • Adding value by moving the product • Shipping to a country that does not produce that product • Moving from rural areas to urban marketing
Possession Utility • Making it easier to buy the product • Moving product from producer to wholesaler to retailer marketing
Time Utility • Adding value by storing a product • Storing grain from harvest until winter/spring • Freezing/refrigerating products marketing
