Introduction Purpose Guided Reading and Basal Programs have been extended and developed to help develop successful English Language Learners in the subject of Reading.Reading Instruction provides a curriculum that offers hands-on practices for gaining optimal achievement in ELL students in reading. The basis for reading research based on proper instructional practices should also promote student empathy and help literacy coaches gain a more in depth understanding.Teachers use methods to help ELL Learners apply and use reading strategies as they read across the curriculum. This develops life-long readers. Study after study has demonstrated that there is a strong and positive correlation between literacy in the native language and learning English (New York State Education Department, 2000; Clay, 1993)
