  1. Geometry CRCT Prep

  2. Review lines, line segments, rays and angles!!! • You can’t answer any CRCT questions without knowing these definitions. • Review also: • Right angles • Acute angles • Obtuse angles • Parallel lines • Intersecting lines • Perpendicular lines

  3. Solve: • All of the following figures except one are part of a line. Which is not part of a line? • A. point • B. angles • C. segment • D. ray

  4. Solve: • What figures make an angle? • A. 2 segments • B. 2 lines • C. 2 rays • D. 2 points

  5. Plane Figures • Review polygons and their sides • Plane figures are flat!!! • Polygons are 3 or more sides and are closed • Regular polygons have all congruent sides • Irregular polygons do not have congruent sides.

  6. Solve • What do these shapes have in common? They all have 4 sides They are all rectangles They are all regular polygons They all have 2 right angles USE THE PROCESS OF ELIMINATION TO ANSWER THE QUESTION!!!

  7. Solve • What is the name of this figure? • A. triangle B. pentagon C. octagon D. hexagon

  8. Solve • This triangle is a(n) _________ triangle. • A. scalar B. scalene C. isosceles D. equilateral

  9. Solve • Greg drew a shape. The shape had multiple sides. All of the interior angle of the shape had a different measurement. Two of the sides were parallel. Which of these shapes could Greg have drawn? • A. triangle B. rhombus C. pentagon D. trapezoid • HINT: Interior means angles inside the shape. Draw a picture if needed. Make sure you draw 2 sides parallel.

  10. Solve • How many acute angles appear to be in this figure? • A. 4 B. 3 C. 2 D. 1

  11. Solve • How many obtuse angles does this figure have? • A. 6 B. 4 C. 2 D. 1

  12. Solve • William is going to add all the angles in a shape. Which of these shapes will have the smallest sum? • A. triangle B. square C. rectangle D. rhombus • HINT: DRAW A PICTURE FOR EACH ONE!!!!

  13. Solve • Which of these figures contains the largest angle? • A. rhombus B. rectangle C. right triangle D. equilateral triangle • HINT: DRAW A PICTURE OF EACH ONE OF THESE SHAPES.

  14. Solid Shapes • Review all solid shapes • Flat surfaces are faces. • The edges are where the faces meet • The vertex (vertices) are where the edges meet.

  15. Solve • Addison has a 3-dimensional shape. The shape has 5 faces, 6 vertices, and 9 edges. What shape does Addison MOST LIKELY have? • A. triangular prism B. rectangular prism C. isosceles triangle D. isosceles rectangle • HINT: C AND D ARE FLAT FIGURES!!! YOU CAN ELIMINATE THEM.

  16. Solve • Which figure is not shown here? • A. cone • B. cylinder • C. cube • D. rectangular prism

  17. Solve • Name the figure with 2 faces that are circles. • A. cylinder • B. sphere • C. cone • D. cube

  18. Solve • Name the figure whose only face is a circle. • A. pyramid • B. sphere • C. cone • D. cube

  19. Solve • If you cut a sphere right down the middle (think of a round fruit), what shape do you see? • A. square • B. circle • C. triangle • D. rectangle

  20. Congruent and Similar • Congruent means equal in every way!!! • These are congruent

  21. Similar • Similar is the same shape with the same properties, but probably not the same size. • These rectangles are similar.

  22. Solve • Which set contains congruent figures? • A. • B. • C.

  23. Circles • Review the following terms on the geometry powerpoint: • Circle • Diameter • Radius • Chord

  24. Solve • Jack ran on a circular track. On his last lap around the track, he stopped half way and walked through the center of the track. He ended on the exact same place he started from. Which describes the distance Jack ran on the last lap? • A. half a circle and a radius B. the diameter and a radius C. half a circle and the diameter D. the radius and the center point • HINT: Use a pencil to • Trace Jack’s path on the • Track .

  25. Solve • What is the line segment EC called? • A. diameter B. radius C. center D. ray
