  6. Definitions A plan is the blueprint for achieving these goals. 2

  7. What is an action plan?

  8. Definitions An action plan is a sequence of steps that must be taken, or activities that must be performed well, for a strategy to succeed. 2

  10. Definitions A milestone is an action or event marking a significant change or stage in development. 2

  12. Example “I want to write a book.” Is this a S.M.A.R.T. goal?

  13. Example “I want to write a book on time management that is at least 200 pages in length and have it done by December 16th. I’ll commit myself to writing at least 2 pages every workday until I reach completion.”

  14. Toastmasters Club Goal Strive to achieve the Distinguished Club Program which consists of 10 goals. The DCP enables the club to establish goals and develop a plan to achieve them.

What are the 10 goals? • Two CCs • Two more CCs  • One ACB, ACS or ACG  • One more ACB, ACS or ACG  • One CL, AL or DTM  • One more CL, AL or DTM  • Four new members  • Four more new members  • Minimum of four officers trained during each of two training periods  • One dues renewal report and one club officer list submitted on time

  17. Achieving Club Goals • Hold a club planning session • Determine priorities • Assign actions with due dates to executive • Set a follow up session

  18. Hold a club planning session • An open meeting for all members • Review the 10 goals • Brainstorm • Create an Action Plan • Have all those attend sign off on goals

  20. Set up a follow session The key to any action plan is accountability. As a team you hold one another accountable and work on helping to achieve all your goals.

  21. Tips for Success • Involve everyone in setting goals. • Write each goal out. • Communicate the goals to the club and public. • Celebrate if you achieve milestones. 4

  23. Write out your Goals It has been documented that by writing out your goals they become reality. You are writing out instructions for your subconscious.
