  9. Cafs study tips • How I studied for my HSC • (What worked for me may not work for you!) • Moved in to grandparents house for 2 weeks (get away from distractions) • Leading up to your trials allocate a minimum of 3 hours per subject per week. • Print off several past papers. Complete a paper every CAFS study session • Do all of the multiple choice questions repeatedly • Use the answers from the BOS website to cross check your answers. • Do not stop doing papers. Continuously try and beat the mark you previously got. • Going through the papers you will notice some years are harder than others, you don’t know if your year will be a hard test or an easy test so don’t rely on being the year that gets the easy test • CAFS markers use the syllabus to allocate their marks. Therefore make sure you know the syllabus points and are able to identify key words in a question to extract what syllabus points are relevant to your question.

  10. Cafs study tips continued • Extract the relevant syllabus point for this question • Acronyms • CAFS has so much information within it and when trying to remember it all for the HSC it is near impossible. • Don’t summarise big paragraphs. You should be able to have 5-6 key words for each syllabus point and be able to turn those 5-6 words in to essays if need be.

  12. CAFS where to go • Where do we go to study? • Your teacher should be your number 1 resource! • If you study now you will be able to have your teacher explain anything you don’t understand • Make sure you have the textbook on your laptop! • Your Senior Wiki! Your teacher, Mr.Connaland myself will be updating it with information all the time. • Use the resources in the library aka ME! • Study groups work as long as people are on task • Use google (try to google HSC PDH&PE Help) • Use the CAFS excel books in the library, we cannot photocopy more than 20% of the book so you will need to use it whilst in the library

  14. Any questions? • Homework • By this time next week you are to go through your relevant syllabus and come to me with the area of study that you do not understand. We will either go through it on the spot or if it is a common concern within the classes I will inform your teacher and work with them to create a workshop to address the issue.
