Dubbo College Senior Campus Higher School Certificate 2013 Community and Family Studies Assessment Task Number 2 Weighting: 20% Date: Week 9 Term 1 Syllabus Area: Core 2: Groups in Context Type of Task: Oral presentation 10 minutes Task Description Scenario: You work for The Dubbo Community Health Centre. In your role you are required to deliver a complimentary seminar to the Dubbo community on a group with special needs (one of the 11 groups studied in class). You must prepare a PowerPoint presentation that is informative and will engage the audience. The following group cannot be chosen- Homeless The presentation should answer the following questions in relation to the group: • Provide a legal and social definition (2 marks) • Outline their 4 specific needs in order of priority (3 marks) • Describe a government policy or regulation designed to help meet their needs (3 marks) • Describe an issue of concern (3 marks) • Explain how each factor affects their access to resources (5 marks) • Analyse a conflict between group and community interests (6 marks) • Evaluate the extent to which community service groups assist in meeting the needs of the group (8 marks) - Use a new slide for each of the points listed above (may go over 1 slide). - Include pictures/ graphics to make the presentation appealing. - Handouts/ posters/ pamphlets stickers etc may be included. - Time allocated for presentation is 10 minutes A HARD COPY MUST BE SUBMITTED AT THE TIME OF YOUR PRESENTATION. Book your timeslot- Tafe and business studies get first choice • Open your presentation from your thumb drive on a school computer before the presentation day • Email the presentation to yourself on your school account so you have a back up copy • If the presentation doesn’t open on the day it is your fault and you wont receive the marks you deserve • I may ask prompting questions during your presentation to get an idea of your understanding of the topic • Print off a hard copy of your presentation to be handed to me on the day. • Use the notes pages on the PowerPoint to have reminders of what you should be telling the audience • Insert pictures and graphics and youtube etc • You can have handouts, posters, pamphlets THINGS TO REMEMBER
You will be assessed on how well you: • demonstrate understanding of the factors affecting the wellbeing of specific groups • demonstrate understanding of the characteristics and issues faced by specific groups in society • present ideas in a clear and logical manner You must talk about wellbeing in your answer Rubric
