  3. Habitat • tall grassy parts • dry lands • Forest, or grasslands • Big savannas • Live in Tanzania, Kenya, Angola, Zaire, and Nigeria home

  4. Food and Water • Eat every single day • Rip off leaves to eat them • Bend there legs to drink from pond • Eat leaves, twigs, and fruit from trees and bushes • Can eat 75 pounds of leaves a day • Can drink water from wet leaves home

  5. Daily Behavior • Full grown at age 5 • Calves live with family until 1 • Walk in herds • 10 giraffes in a herd • Don’t sleep very much • Spend most of time eating • Run 35 miles from lions, Leopards, and Hyenas • Have babysitters home

  6. Family Structures • Give birth standing up • Full grown at age 5 • 1 baby a year • A day after baby is born it can run • Have a herd to stay safe • In herd babysitters • 50 giraffes in herd home

  7. Interesting Facts • Have one color when born • When growing up have different spots • Tongue is longer than arm • Run 35 miles an hour • Leg as long 6 feet and 1.8 meters • A giraffes neck has 7 bones home
