October 30 & 31 Get a Wonder book. We’re going to read for 25 minutes.
Quick Write #6 (final one for six weeks) • “Kind words do not cost much. Yet they accomplish much.” –Blaise Pascal • What does this mean? How can it apply (or has it applied) to your life? What is it asking of you? • Final reminder: I will take up Quick Writes next class. If a quick write does not contain at least 4 sentences, it is not complete and will not be counted.
5 Tenets of Transcendentalism • Everything is a reflection of God • People are generally good and will treat others fairly • The closer a person is to nature, the closer he/she is to God • A person should follow his/her intuition in making decisions • Individuality and self-reliance are more important than following the majority or tradition

How is Transcendentalism present today? • Quick discussion before timed write… • Helpful hints for later: • Remember this is an expository writing assignment. It should be factual/informational; it should be something most everyone would agree with. This is NOT the time to be persuasive. If you give an example, be quick and concise with it; do not belabor the point.
Timed Write • Clear your desk. • Get out a pen or pencil. • You will have 40 minutes to answer the prompt.
