Creating O ur Foldable. You should have four sheets of paper. Lay them on top of each other, but stagger them about an inch apart. Once they are staggered, fold them over to make 8 flaps. I will come around and help you staple them.

Creating Our Foldable • You should have four sheets of paper. • Lay them on top of each other, but stagger them about an inch apart. • Once they are staggered, fold them over to make 8 flaps. • I will come around and help you staple them. • If you are confused, just raise your hand and I will help you.

  4. Republicanism Definition: A belief that government should be based on the consent of the people; people exercise their power by voting for political representatives.

  5. Limited Government Definition: The principle that requires all U.S. citizens, including government leaders, to obey the law. If elected officials break any laws, they may be impeached or arrested.

  6. Individual Rights Definition: A personal liberty and privilege guaranteed to U.S. citizens by the Bill of Rights.

  7. Checks and Balances Definition: The ability of each branch of government to exercise checks, or controls, over the other branches.

  8. Separation of Powers Definition: The division of basic government roles into branches.

  9. Federalism Definition: A system of government where power is shared or balanced among the central (or federal) government and the states.

  10. Popular Sovereignty Definition: A government in which all political power comes from the people; a system in which the residents vote to decide an issue.
