OBJECTIVES • Identify speech sounds s and sh in the initial position of the word. • Recognizes words using spelling patterns with consonant blends in the initial position • Associate names of objects/pictures with their printed symbols.
Procedure • Preliminary Activity • What are rhyming words? I will say a pair of words, touch your nose when you hear words that rhyme. cat – hat see - be mix – cap star - car hip – dip book - nook
Lesson Proper1. Allow the pupils to say the name of each pictures with you. shell seat sign saw

Ask individual pupils to use each word in a sentence and let the class repeat the sentences given. 3. Encourage pupils to repeat the sound of the letters while you underline them giving emphasis on how the sounds of s and sh differ.

Evaluation • Find the words with sh sound in the puzzle.
Assignment • Practice reading these sentences. Underline correctly the words having s and sh sounds. • I saw a shell along the shore. • She sells seashells in the seashore. • That sign will shine in the dark. • May I have a sheet of paper? • She stayed in the shade to see the show.
