  2. What are they? • Anglo-Saxon Illuminated Manuscript of the Gospels • Kept at Durham Cathedral • Hand made in 700AD by monks on Lindisfarne Island

  3. Where’s Lindisfarne? • It’s a small island off the coast of Northumberland in north east England and it’s called Holy Island these days

  4. What does the island look like?

  5. More info about the book • It’s written on vellum with quill pens • It contains the four gospels from the New Testament of the Christian Bible.

  6. It’s beautifully decorated • Each gospel has lots of decorated lettering

  7. What are Carpet Pages? • Each of the four gospels is introduced by a fully decorated page that looks a bit like a carpet St Matthew

  10. It’s full of patterns

  11. Your Task • Use the patterns as a starting point for your choreography • Use the music we are sending you • Make sure that all of the patterns are included in the dance • Put it all together so that the page ‘lives’ • Be ready to show us the work in progress Good Luck!!
