Smarter games dumber children, The Courier-Mail, 12. • This article discusses the damage to the brain and the learning difficulties that children can experience from playing fast paced video games before the age of seven. Poulter argued that children can become isolated and even commercially exploited by playing these games. The technology has the capacity to rewire the brain so learning difficulties can arise. He strongly advises on banning video games before the age of seven.

He argued that policies need to be made that consider timely intervention when necessary so students can reach their full potential. Parental awareness should also be included in the policy especially the roles they undertake. Procedures and protocol and the professional support resource both internal and external should be included in the policy. Planning for literacy improvement should be on the agenda of every school for the benefit that all children achieve their full potential.

Subject literacy's or Curriculum literacy's are required by Middle School Students.. This chapter therefore assists teachers to understand the literacy's of secondary subjects and helps develop appropriate inclusive practices.

Therfore the 3, 5 and 7 testing program considers a range of ways standard Australian English is used by Cultural groups. The test therefore is designed to identify literacies for all Australians.

Mills( a former primary school teacher) argued that reading comprehension can be taught and that it is more often assessed than taught. She advised that Metacognitive strategies can be taught to help students monitor and improve comprehension. This paper provides a repertoire of thinking strategies for teaching reading comprehension with students in the primary and middle years, with practical classroom activities. Multimodal reading comprehension and critical literacy for the new times have been given special attention in this paper.

The University of Miami Assistant of education argued that literacy programs often neglect oral fluency for non – native speakers. He argued that re thinking traditional methods is needed. He added that because children are natural multi taskers we should deliver content in multiple media. Relationships with children also needs to be addressed because children will only learn if they want to learn it.

Guidelines indicate that ICT should be used to support learning in specific subjects as well as being a subject in it’s own right. ICT allows the teacher to produce and modify resources quickly and easily. It allows access to a wide range of information in various formats e.g. IWB( Interactive Whiteboard) ,Computers, software and cameras. However, the article argued that these should only be used when appropriate.

Parents are under financial pressure and Claremorris Credit Union partnered up with St. Coleman’s College to become the first digital classroom. The apple I Pad device replaced the traditional books and bags .The article is hoping that the Irish Government will observe the advantages of including ICT in the form of digital classrooms and Fee reductions for Parents.

Retrieved from A+ Education database. • This article argues that multiliteracies should not just address technoliteracies but also address diverse social, cultural and literate practices of homes and communities. Henderson stated that this diversity should be integrated into every stage of our teaching. So, therefore the students strengths are the starting points for successful literacy learning . Henderson uses a lens analogy approach to identifying difference when it is not always viable. She advises on using multiple lens’s because it is not always easy to identify difference.
