  2. Symbiosis is a close relationship between two or more different species.

  3. Mutualism

  4. Mutualism—A relationship where both species benefit from the relationship.

  5. Parisitism

  6. Parasitism-- A relationship between two species in which one species (the parasite) nourishes itself to the disadvantage of the other species (the host).

  7. Commensalism Cleaner shrimp cleaning a zebra moray eel. Mutualistic relationships such as these promote the well-being of the host fishes and provide food for those that do the cleaning.

  8. Commensalism—A relationship where one species obtains food or shelter from the other species. Does not harm or help the other species.

  9. Ammensalism The black walnut secretes a chemical from its roots that harms neighboring plants, an example of amensalism.
