  1. RAL in WP2 Claire Shepherd-Themistocleous (CMS) & Marcel Stanitzki (ILC)

  2. Contributions in WP2 • RAL will make contributions to both work packages • Work package 2.2 Geometry toolkit • Work package 2.3 Reconstruction task • Interest at RAL comes from involvement and current work on ILC and the CMS experiment

  3. Evaluation of detector designs • Challenges of designing for the Upgraded detectors (SLHC) • Handling of high multiplicity as a result of pile-up, particularly memory management • Enabling fast evaluation of different detector geometry options • Optimization of possible track triggers in dense track environments

  4. Geometry Contribution • Common Geometry Framework Bindings • Interface to org.lcsim • Use Java Bindings • SWIG to automatically generate bindings • RAL Experience • Provide ROOT Interface in Java • Supports Histos, Ntuples, Profiles • Testing &Validation of package

  5. Getting going… • Keen to discuss overall organization of project and how to ensure good coordination • e.g. we are likely to have coding standards & conventions that we wish to enforce across the collaboration • Easy usability - key to success
