  2. Scenario • A nurse and the camp director are preparing for the arrival of children to a small rural summer asthma camp. During the early morning, the nurse is alerted that an accident occurred just outside of the camp. The nurse calls 911 while running to the scene finding a bus that crashed into a jeep and then rolled into a large tree next to the river. All of the patients will eventually be transferred for care.

  3. Scenario • On site, the nurse has minimal supplies including gauze, bandages, ambu bags, oral airways, IV fluids, etc. The nurse does not have surgical capabilities. The nearest hospital is 30 minutes away and accessible by helicopter. There is an air transport helicopter that is en route to arrive within the next 15 minutes. Because of weight restrictions, the nurse is only able to send 2 patients at a time for transport.

  4. Scenario • After initial survey of the scene, the nurse establishes a basic triage station. The nurse must triage and prioritize patients, deciding on the order of transport and immediate care needed prior to transport.
