Definition of Title I • Title I provides federal funding to schools to help students who are low achieving or at risk of falling behind. • Title I status is given to schools based on the percentage of students receiving free/reduced lunch. • Schools with a free/reduced lunch percentage of 40% or more are eligible.
BGHSReading & Math Goals • Reading: 100% of students scoring in the bottom 25% on the SAT10 test last year will meet or exceed the standard on the AIMS Reading 2014. • Math: 100% of the bottom 25% of 10th grade students will meet or exceed on the 2014 AIMS Math assessment.
How will we meet our goals? Using our Key Strategic Objective: • We will deploya guaranteed and viable curriculum in every class.
Title I Coaching - Tutoring - Read 180 Students are selected from a set of academic criteria including: • AIMS Reading and Math Scores • Reading Test (Lexile) • District Reading and Math Assessments
Curriculum and Instructional Strategies • The Science, Social Studies, and English Departments have implemented a “Close Reading Strategy” to help students comprehend what they read. • Math provides individualized instruction on an as-needed basis.
Social Work Services What do School Social Workers do? Crisis Intervention Consultant with Parents Teaming Group or individual counseling Referrals Program Development Classroom Intervention
Parent Communication Systems Facilitator Goal: Improve student achievement through enhanced communication systems. • Design and implement communication systems with a focus on improving student achievement. • Maintain and update student schedules and information in ManageBac and PowerSchools. • Promote use of ManageBac to support parents and students with students’ success.

Parent’s Right to Know – Non-Highly Qualified Teachers • Parents/Guardians have a “Right to Know” if their child is taught by a teacher that is NOT highly qualified for four weeks or longer. • BGHS will notify parents/guardians by phone and/or mail if this situation occurs. • Currently, ALL teachers on BGHS’s campus are highly qualified.
Parent’s Right to Know: Student Achievement • Parents/Guardians must be informed of their student’s progress as indicated by state assessments (reading and math AIMS). • All students will receive their AIMS scores by mail.

How Can You Be Involved? • BGHS Title I Parent Input Committee • BGHS Campus Improvement Team (CIT) • Volunteer, as appropriate, on campus or in the classroom • Attend parenting classes
Right to Request Meetings • Upon the request of parents, the school must provide opportunities for regular meetings for parents to make suggestions and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions about the education of their children. • The school must respond to any such suggestions as soon as practicably possible.
