The Aim of this Reseach • Understanding Management Principles in practice • As a basic knowledge of facility manager, we are studying management principles; theorists such as Mintzberg, Drucker, Hammer and so on. To understand those theories in practice,we research in real management world, and apply theories to it. • Practicing on making a ‘Policy Plan’ • Final goal of this reseach is to make a policy plan of a facility management department using management theories. To make it practical, we would like have your evaluation for the plan at the end of our reseach.

Why the company use the term? What does the term intent to do, and for whom (staff? Passenger? And/or non-flying visiters) Which unit is the core business of the group? How is the profit earning structure of the group? How does the group earn profit? Directly from who? How indirectly from end-users? Why is it not enough only developing and operating Amsterdam? The company is expanding its business into the world such as JFK, Brisbane, or Roma. What is the aim of expanding? What is the main problem of the group for the future? What sort of business environments threaten the group’s business? <About the Facility management department> Definition and structureof the department Is facility management function included in Support Service Business unit? Who is the main customer of the facility management department? What is the function of the department? How many orgnizational levels in FD? Strong point and Competencies What is the competitive point of the department comparing with other facility service provider? What kinds of expertise or profession are in the department? Main concern of the departmentof the department What is the main concern of the department? What is the difficulties in present and future business environment? Relation with other units What kind of the relationship keeping between FD and others department in Schipol ? Does the department make SLA with others business units?
