BYU Peer-to-Peer In 2018, the Research & Writing Center completed 15,915 consultations. Students were helped from over 800 courses in 11 colleges. “It was hard for me just diving back in after raising my child [. . .] so just to be able to have a place where I could go anytime to show up, walk in and have somebody help me navigate research again was super helpful.” —graduate student, focus group response

Wide range of comfort/discomfort with the library, databases, technology literacy within our student population • Some of our students have just completed their bachelor’s degree, others have been practicing in their field for 30 years • All students complete an online orientation called RMU101, which includes the library • Online orientation and face-to-face (for most programs)
Discipline-specific students (health sciences) • Assess their needs • Use their language (evidence-based practice) • Adapt instruction to meet what they need to know
