Sunday 2/16 – African Plateau • Plateau: a broader, flat piece of land higher than the surrounding land. • Most of Africa • Basin: depressions • Many basins in Africa: some 625 miles (1,000 km) across • Some of these basins collect water (Chad)
Sunday 2/16 – Rivers • Nile Rive: Longest river in the world. 95% of Egypt’s population depend on for water. **Population density along river: 3,320 people/sq. mile**Population density in the rest of Egypt: 177 people/sq. mile • Many rivers not useful because of rapids, waterfalls, and gorges.**Congo River has 32 waterfalls.
